Yahya Thabit, Esq.
Yahya Thabit, Esq., is an Of counsel attorney at SLG, where he practices in the areas of civil and corporate litigation, criminal defense, and immigration. Prior to joining SLG, Mr. Thabit was attorney at a Maryland law firm and twice served as a judicial law clerk in the Seventh Judicial Circuit of Maryland. During his clerkships he researched and drafted court opinions and bench memorandum addressing a variety of civil and criminal matters ranging from dispositive motions to post-conviction issues.
Mr. Thabit earned his Juris Doctor from the University of the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law, where he was the recipient of the prestigious Joseph L. Rauh, Jr., Top Clinic Performer Award. He served as Moot Court Chair for the Black Law Students’ Association and represented the association in the Mid-Atlantic Region Fredrick Douglas Moot Court Competition. For two years he served as Teaching Assistant for the law school’s legal writing program, and participated in clinics where he advised non-profit organizations, small businesses, and entrepreneurs on matters pertaining to business and transaction law.
Mr. Thabit received his Bachelor’s Degree with Honors from York University in Toronto, Canada. Mr. Thabit has been a professional men’s basketball scout for years and is a student of the NBA’s Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Mr. Thabit is admitted to practice law in the State of Maryland, the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland, and is pending admission to the District of Columbia bar.
